How important is it to have a skincare regime?

Is it necessary to have a regular routine or a regime to cleanse the skin? Simply - yes - it needs regular care and attention as the skin becomes covered with invisible impurities such as bacteria throughout the day and night too. Cleansing also aids circulation and prepares the skin to receive topically applied nutrients and lipids. The texture, clarity, suppleness and long-term health of facial skin can be controlled by how and how often you cleanse? Whether you’re young or old, man or woman, you can do your skin a big favor by cleansing correctly.

So what is a basic non-fuss routine that most of us can follow?

  1. The first place to start is with a cleanser. A natural vegetable oil soap containing glycerine but no nasty chemicals will gently cleanse the skin. Of course for those who prefer, a soap-free cleanser using natural oils to unclog and remove dirt and bacteria is an alternative. A too-rich cleanser can clog pores, while a too-dry cleanser can irritate the skin. A cleanser for dry skin should contain nourishing herbs and oils. One for oily skin should include herbs that balance oil production and support clarity. Sensitive skin benefits from an ultra-gentle, fragrance-free, non-irritating cleanser.Rubbing your face gently in a small, circular motion for a few minutes should be enough. Rinse off using tepid water - extremes can irritate and damage the skin. You may wish to exfoliate or gently scrub the skin at least once a week to buff away dead cells for a smoother brighter skin. But the key is choosing a cleanser or scrub to suit your skin type
  2. Toners are used to further cleanse the skin and minimize the visibility to pores. A good toner will help to restore your skin's natural pH balance, and should be used following your cleanser and exfoliator. Toner may be applied lightly with a cotton swab. Again, choose a toner suited to your skin type. For oily skin - an astringent toner perhaps containing alcohol and salicylic acid among their ingredients will help to remove the excess oil. For dry skin - an alcohol-free toners as an astringent toner runs the risk of drying out your skin if you're already lacking for proper oils.
  3. Moisturise with one appropriate for your skin type to seal in surface moisture and offer nourishment when skin is receptive. Choose again a moisturising cream or lotion containing natural and safe skin nourishing and protecting oils and ingredients. Of course, moisturising the skin can be done morning and night and particularly after exposure to the sun or air-conditioning.The key to healthy looking skin is basically a good diet and a good skincare regime of cleansing, toning and moisturising. But also important is
